V. Tech Killer trained on Video Game or Today's scape goat to misplace the blame!
Friday, April 20, 2007
Jack Thompson is a school shootings expert, or so it's thought by David Gregory on MSNBC who interviewed him about the Virginia Tech massacre.
For the record I never play video games much, so what explains my desensatized reaction to the killings? My feelings were "oh, another one? Another fool flipped his lid?" Followed by "Damn my generation is F@#&ed up." How many school shootings do there need to be before someone decides that maybe we aren't listening to the youth enough. What I hate is how the experts crawl out from under their rocks after every massacre and place the blame everywhere but with the closest people to the murderer and those trully responsible.
Speaking of which...
Today's expert is Jack Thompson who believes games like Doom and Counterstrike are to blame for the accuracy and efficiency of school shootings.
No offense Jack, but I got to level 22 on Duck Hunt from putting the fake gun an inch from the television screen. That doesn't make me efficient nor a marksmen. If these guys didn't have video games, they would have put targets out in the woods somewhere and practiced...I mean, they already had the guns and ammunition. How hard would it have been to get a few target signs and ear muffs? Really, Jack, for me to dig your story I am going to need more evidence. You say Grand Theft Auto: Vice City influenced the shooters? Well, I need more proof then a mass killing. Like...um... did the V. Tech Killer slap any prostitutes before the shooting or steal a car and run a few people over? If so, I take back everything I've said.
