My first blog!

Posted at 10:04, Wednesday, April 30, 2008

Well, I've finally caved and decided to create a blog.  I hope this is a good forum for people to bring up topics for discussion, ask questions, and just generally get to know me better.  Let me start by saying....I'm brand new to all of this, so I apologize in advance for any mistakes I make along the way!

To get things rolling, I wanted to talk about my current "hot" project -- the release of my Power Yoga Certification program.  I'm THRILLED to be working on this!

For a while now, I've felt that there has been a void in the way that instructors become certified to teach yoga.  On one end of the spectrum, there are the gym/fitness certification programs that are quick, one or two day programs that (I feel) don't provide enough information for you to safely teach classes. There's just no way in a day or two you can learn about anatomy, foundation poses, sequencing, adjustments, variations, etc!

On the other end of the spectrum, there are the certification programs that are offered at many studios across the country.  These programs require 200 to 500 hours of work, and either a year or more of your time, or 4 to 6 weeks dedicated to a live-in program.  On the low end, you'll pay around $2,500.  On the high end, $5,000 plus!   Unfortunately, many of the hours in these programs are spent learning things that many people never use while teaching classes (reading and writing in sanskrit, reading text books on Indian philosophy, etc.)

The new program I'm offering sits right in the middle of these two.  It's 55 hours, so you'll dedicate a week of your time.  It is an intense, information-filled week that gives you just the right amount of information to start teaching classes safely and creatively.

How cool is THAT!!!?!?!  :-)  Check out my website, AdrienneReed.com for lots of details on my certification..

That's it for now!

I signed up and feel very excited about it. Though 11 hours a day seems a little daunting, truth to be told.

You are the best

Training

Posted by Anonymous at 03:07, Tuesday, June 24, 2008

Hello. I just wanted to say that I love your show. I get up every Saturday and Sunday morning at 6:00 to prepare for your program at 6:30. I live in New York and unfortunately will not be able to participate in your training. I currently teach at two public libraries. One is my karma yoga and it is an awesome experience. Introducing yoga to an inner city community in Queens is wonderful. The community is so grateful and I see some of the same faces but new ones each week. So I just wanted to say hello and that i am a huge fan. I wish that you came on during the week but I will take Sat/Sun.Peace and many blessings to you. -Lavendar Sun

Fairly new to Yoga

Posted by Anonymous at 03:49, Tuesday, August 5, 2008

Hi Adrian, I am fairly new to yoga and I'm not very fit. I wondered if it's wish for me to practice every day or would every other day be wiser. I am in my sixties and don't do any formal kind of exercise.
