The DancerThe Dancer
by Afrika Midnight Asha Abney The dancer is inspired by the beauty and joy of being a dancer, specifically as traditional West African dancer. The dancer plays a significant role in society and is able to touch many souls and spirits from all walks of life. The dancer is a healer, entertainer, performer and angel.
The dancer frequently is engaged in a dual relationship: one with creation of using arm, feet and hands; rhythms of the drums or other musical instruments; the other with the perceived audience. Allowing the audience to gather its own perspective and to find its own story.
The dancer sways through the streets with arms open wide full of hope, harmony and grace
moving like thunder ligthining rhythms striking continuously in 360 degrees of strength, joy and miracles with legs pounding hand rotating
arms swirling hips swaying to the beats within. Copyright © 2008 by Afrika Midnight Asha Abney

by Afrika Midnight Asha Abney Keep the earth is a poem in honor of Earth Day.
Keep the earth
pure and clean full of peace, joy and art to feed the mind, body and soul with rhythms to sooth the temples within with clean air to breath without chemicals and toxins to poison the brain cells and body with water pure and healthy without any lead to evaporate the spirit. Keep the earth
safe and dry for nation, community and all the walk the earth. Copyright © 2008 by Afrika Midnight Asha Abney
Mother's DayMother’s Day
by Afrika Midnight Asha Abney ![]() Mother’s Day is a special day to give thanks to all mothers past, present and future who have paved the way for such a significant day.
I think Mother’s Day is important to me because it gives me the opportunity to thank my mother and all of those who have aided in my upbringing and taught me the key elements to womanhood. I also thank all of my mother figure ancestors who have guided me in reaching my vision and goal.
Mother’s Day is celebrated every year on Sunday and it is the time that I say Happy Mother’s Day to my mother and those that have stood hand and hand by my mother!
In celebrating Mother’s Day, I would suggest the following gifts. Among them include
1) Write something of inspiration from the heart. 2) Handmade note card, greeting card or painting. 3) Bouquet of flowers 4) Fruit basket 5) Inspirational or spiritual book. 6) Bookmark However, the best gift, you can ever give your Mother is something that is priceless which is LOVE! HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY

Importance of NetworkingImportance of Networking
by Afrika Midnight Asha Abney Networking is very important for many independent artists, authors, publishers, consultants or publishers. It gives you a chance to meet, greet and exchange ideas and even offer suggestions, advice or provide comments. One of the things that have been working very well for my career is the ability to network whether joining an online group, attending an event or arranging a meeting. April is National Poetry MonthApril is National Poetry Month
by Afrika Midnight Asha Abney National Poetry Month is celebrated throughout the entire month of April. National Poetry Month is very important to me because it gives me the opportunity to recognize poets of the past, present and future who made/make a difference in many lives through their poetic voice including Phyllis Wheatley, Paul Lawrence Dunbar, James Weldon Johnson, Langston Hughes, Gil Scott Heron, Sekou Sundiata, Gwendolyn Brooks, Collective Voices, Eloise Greenfield, Dr. Maya Angelou, E. Ethelbert Miller and many others. Furthermore, it gives me the opportunity to share my literary contribution to the world.
In recognizing this crucial month, I intend one sharing not only my literary contribution to the world, but also the contribution of others. In conclusion, I say to all the poets past, present and future.
HAPPY NATIONAL POETRY MONTH and the below poem entitled: I honor written by Afrika Midnight Asha Abney is for all of you!! Enjoy!

What I Want for ChristmasWhat I Want for Christmas
by Afrika Midnight Asha Abney I want for my mind, body and soul to be healed from all of the trials and tribulations that I have encountered and remove them.
I want to provide nothing but the best for myself and my daughter.
I want to be filled with rhythms that flows through and around me healing my mind, body and soul.
I want to continue to educate my daughter and be a great role model and shed light
upon soul with books that fed the mind and elevate the spirit.
I want to be able to walk into a place without being abused!
I want to dance into the wilderness full of beauty and grace knowing that I have honored my priciples for living in this world!
I want to sing songs that none of sung.
I want to glide across the snow and dive into the ice.
I want to continue to be a strong woman for myself and daughter and know that I have survived life's experiences.
I want to be a good daughter to my parents.
I want to be a good sister to my brothers and sisters.
I want to be a good niece to my aunts and uncles.
I want to be a good grandaughter to my grandparents.
I want to be blessed with new opportunities.

by Afrika Midnight Asha Abney Conversations
built upon exchanging words and receiving messages some filled with triumph, sorrow and anxiety others filled with rhythms transformed in peace, hope and faith living in prayer asking the creator for guidance to uplift you from the trials, tribulations and lessons encountered just trying to make it day by day to make ends meet to protect the fruits of labor to cherish the family to strive for freedom and riches of the time knowing that everyone is human some care while others just get by without paying a dime and even caring about the principles discussed in conversations still mending the soul still staying focus trying not to bet yourself for the lessons learned mistakes encountered because some people's conversations are cold as ice while other's conversations are warm as the Sun beautiful like the Angel of Love as we live by our means we must remember the goodness that comes from the conversations and throw away the bad ones because simply some conversations are cheap while other conversations are rich like the land gold like the treasures of family memories Conversations
