Give Thanks
by Afrika Midnight Asha Abney
Give Thanks
for all of the blessings received
sounds of unity, peace, freedom and laughter
for there are messages filled with universal images
that are encompassed by beauty, harmony and prosperity
in recognizing the goodness that flows like waves in the river
for there are angels that fly over you
sending messages that are embraced by
power and inspiration.
Give Thanks
for the colors that stream from the inner soul.
Give Thanks
for good health and good wealth.
Give Thanks
for all of God’s creations!

A Tribute to Miriam Makeba
by Afrika Midnight Asha Abney
Her voice was eloquent
songs were moving
like colors that weave peace and hope
rhythms that glide around our soul
water that calms our inner spirit
touching our heart with inspirational scriptures
to embrace and uplift our mind.
Her movement was vivid
like messages from drums.
Her spirit was vibrant and dynamic
like the reflections from the rainbow.
Her messages were dynamic
like songs from freedom fighters
like the messages etched in stone.
May her voice always be remembered as she know joins
the ancestors.
God bless
rest in peace!

Together in Unity We Must Vote!
by Afrika Midnight Asha Abney
Together in Unity We Must Vote
for change in the nation and across the world
to bring about a better system
spreading colors of power, freedom, and unity
standing against the corruption and war
believing in the principles that lies beneath
the credentials of new political faces
that will change and touch millions of hearts
with sunshine and grace.
Together in Unity We Must Vote
it is our duty
to honor our nation and world
in living the legacy of our ancestors who stood
before the nation and world.
Together in Unity We Must Vote
with no questions asked!

What is Music?
by Afrika Midnight Asha Abney
Music is the expression within adding new dimensions to life
filling the soul
with tunes to soften the heart
elevate the mind and body
encompassing the essence of being
expressed through lyrics and notes
transcribed from tracks etched in stone.
Music is the season that changes
time that evolves
symbols defined in pitches.
Music is universal
