Brief Bio: Melvia Miller

 

Melvia Miller is an educator, trainer, certified herbalist, entrepreneur, poetess, and author. She has appeared on  several TV and radio shows as a guest, discussing her books and works. Melvia has received numerous honors and awards, including being named: "Young Professional Woman of the Year"--by NANBPW, Inc.---and being named to "Who's Who in American

What is your name?
My name is Melvia Miller.

 

Tell me something about yourself.
I am the mother, an educator, trainer, certified herbalist, entrepreneur, poetess and author.

Who are some of your favorite authors?
Some of my favorite authors include Maya Angelou,  Alex Haley, Langston Hughes, Deepak Choprah, Alice Walker,  Al Gore, The Last Poets…and others.

What are your goals for your writing career? 
I hope to one day be able to provide a major educational service and retreat where my clients and readers can go to learn and de-stress.  It would also consist of a major media center (recording studio and high tech center) suitable for all types of creative activities --such as: Art exhibits, poetry slams,  or conferences.  It would accommodate groups of students or corporate executives who want to hold seminars or use my materials. 

 

My books are already in print and being sold on the Internet, via bookstores, and on various websites.  My goals are extensive, for example in addition to creating a mass marketing campaign,  I hope to be able to expand into other arenas of publishing, perhaps with major textbook companies or into educational TV shows.  Most authors want to attain the honor of a “best seller” –and I too  

reach for that. 

 

How long have you been writing?
I began writing at a very young age which began while I was in junior high school.

Black History and Cultural Diversity
Nature and Ecology topics – natural healing and herbs (etc.)

Tell us something about your most recent book, IMPLOSION: “Gone with the Weather”.

IMPLOSION: “Gone with the Weather”is a book that developed after the horrible incidents surrounding Hurricane Katrina and other similar natural disasters.
                     
What inspired you to write your most recent book,IMPLOSION: “Gone with the Weather”?
The extensive, widespread fires,  Wild Weather,  Hurricane Katrina,  Kanye West, Al Gore and people like him who have been warning us about “global warming” --- and resulting climate disasters.  Ancient prophecies, predictions from people like Nostadamus….and similar information inspired me to compose a book on this compelling issue --- problems that are effecting everyone.

 

AS I SEE IT….unfortunately, most people tend to view the Earth and Nature as--“…a big rock that we live on and can just do anything to without consequences….”

 

Instead of revering the wonderful healing gifts (herbs, foods, oils, plants, oxygen, water, sunshine--and all the nutrients that we need -- etc.) that come from nature, society has only set forth to conquer it. We have become drug-laden plastic people. And we wonder why so many are sick. We have also made the EARTH sick...she now has a fever!

 

After readers have read your most book, what you want them to walk away with?
More knowledge,  inspiration, a sense of hope,  enjoyment, desire to learn more…

 

THE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE "Super Sistah"--- and so do many adults.

 

Do you have a specific target audience for your most recent book,IMPLOSION: “Gone with the Weather”?
General public --- as this problem effects everyone.  I focus a lot on teachers and  students…improving teaching and training methods.

 

How did you come up with your title?
Whenever I write a book or poem – or prepare a plan…or do compose anything…I gather as much information as possible and outline what I have.  Then I try to ascertain what the most impressive theme is that can be found…and I then get a simple “catchy” phrase.  I get a MENTAL PICTURE and then the TITLE comes to me.  

 

Who designed your cover?
I designed the covers and most of the art or selected what would be used.
