Labor Day
by Afrika Midnight Asha Abney

Labor Day is supposed to be a day where people do not have to work. Well, in my personal view, I believe that there are many people who do not really take off from work. In reality, you can never stop working! Why?

- It takes a village to keep a community and nation from falling apart.
- To raise a child/dren who must work to provide for them.
- To keep your career going, you must keep doing something to promote, market or build a name for yourself.
- To keep your mind pure, you are always working or thinking about new ideas, concepts or beliefs about branding your name or product.

Therefore, in conclusion, work to build a new empire that is filled with peace, love, unity, revolution, commitment, honor and respect. Work less to fight the battles that have been loss. Take Labor Day off to remove yourself from environments that are filled with people who do not have the same values or beliefs as you. Work hard on increasing and remembering the legacy of our ancestors!

Have a safe and peaceful Labor Day!

The picture shown is entitled: LOVE IS UNITY and is created and designed by Afrika Midnight Asha Abney.

The colors depicted are a portrayal of African- American heritage and culture. I believe that in love that all races can utilize the symbolism of the colors depicted with LOVE IS Unity. With appreciating and accepting one’s belief system whether in personal or professional relationship, one must acknowledge the value of love and kindness. In most instances people forget that LOVE MEANS WORKING TOGETHER through uplifting society.

LOVE IS UNITY
bounded by depth, principle, roots, solitude, honor, respect, representation and grace
destined by truth, loyalty, power and belief
sustaining the essence of the african proverbs and traditions
maintaining an unified lifestyle for self, family and nation

for LOVE IS UNITY!

Elements of Being A Lion

Photo of A Lion by Afrika Midnight Asha Abney

Lions are brave full of courage, strength, determination, power and wisdom, just as many of our ancestors were such as Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, Sojourner Truth, Frederick, Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X, Rev.Dr. Martin L.King,Jr, and Fannie Lou Hamer just to name a few. Today's leadership demonstrates few elements of those that carry the symbols of being a lion. However, there are many families, men and women that do portray the symbols of being a lion.

Today Remebering His Words
by Afrika Midnight Asha Abney
Today Remembering His Words
of racial profiling
brothers and sisters joining together
as one race
as one nation
full of hope
peace
democracy
liberation
love for all
equality
war
poverty.

Today Remembering His Words
for brothers and sisters
holding hands
coming together
despite color
building a stronger
foundation
removing all hate
envy from souls
lift up the nation
with the fruits of labor
harvest the minds
with words and messages
for empowerment and solitude.

Today Remembering His Words
some sad to say
still exists today!
