The Knitter's Oracle

Ugh, I'm so booooored!

I've been making this beaded scarf for what seems like forever and it's just not getting any longer. It's driving me crazy! I had to thread the beads on before I started, and it seems like the fact that I have to keep pushing them down on pretty much every single row is what's taking up most of the time. I'm slowly slipping into insanity. In fact, I may well be there because I'm still working on the frigging thing!

*deep breath*

Ok, so I decided to go on this yarn diet thing, which makes complete sense because I really need to use up the stash, but now I feel like I just want to cast on every single project I possibly can. I suspect this has something to do with the belief that it will make my stash disappear sooner if I finish everything sooner. The flaw in this plan is that by casting everything on in one go, it will actually take longer to finish anything because you'll be working on a million things at once!

You'll be pleased to kow this hasn't really stopped me though. Oh no, I'm currently working on:

-the second of a pair of fingerless mittens
-the second of a pair of socks
-my Lilith shawl
-the dreaded beaded scarf
-the beginnings of a baby blanket, made up of all the random scraps of DK i have lying around (I hate DK)

AND to top it all off, I feel I have recently been guilt tripped into needing to start a project which someone got me as a gift but haven't yet started making. (Your first mistake is buying for a specific pattern not pre-approved by me. What was the guarantee I'd ever like it??!!)

And, in a cruel twist of fate, one of my favourite online shops Purlescence will start selling yarn this month too. I suspect this is a test from the knitting gods to test my strength of knitting character.

"Well, I'm tempted, but I got a stash to burn, you hear me?!"

*slumps*

Well some small consolation is, my stash is one bulky skein shorter because I gave it away to a friend, along with my giant 15mm needles and my first knitting book so that they could learn to knit. (World Knitting Domination will be mine! Mwahahahaha! [and you thought that button to the left was just a webring link]).

Also I made a 'scat' which is like a hat with a scarf attached. (Imagine a beanie with earflaps. Now imagine the earflaps are reeeeeeally long. Voila, Scat). So my project finishing demon is slightly sedated by that.

...I think I've ranted a bit to much now, and I should really be thinking of sleep (hands up if you predict this will be the longest most boring week of the year so far), so dear reader, thanks for reading, hope you come back soon :-)

:(
This dreaded beaded thing sounds rather...dreadful...
Hmm, shame I couldn't think of a useful euphemism for that or something...
How much extra wool do you have?
(and what does DK mean? I was thinking maybe it meant dead-knit or something?)
Hmm, I hope your week isn't going too badly, hopefully the beady monster will dissapear soon =]
Keep safe
*salute*

DK is a thickness of yarn. There's 5 basic groups:
-Lace
-Sock
-DK (Double Knitting)
-Aran
-Chunky

And I have only a bucketful of yarn but it seems to be a lot of lace which takes a while to knit up.... It's why I like fat yarn, I can finish a project in a day (and sometimes even an hour!)
