Blank Wedding Invitations - Get the Wording Right

Posted at 02:30 on Monday, August 4, 2008

If you have purchased blank wedding invitations, no doubt you'll want to make sure that you get the wording right. Sure, you probably don't want to make it sound like all the other invitations, but you can use your own voice along with some guidelines to come up with invitations that are unique and appropriate at the same time. So, here are a few great tips that will help you to write your own invitations and get all the wording right.

Figure Out Who Announces the Wedding
When you are actually using do it yourself wedding invitations and you want to make sure that you get the wording right, you need to make sure you know who is going to announce the wedding. Are you going to have your parents announce it on the invitations or do you plan on doing this yourself? Usually if your parents are paying for the wedding or a big portion of it, it is a good idea to have them announcing the wedding. However, if you're paying for it yourself, then you can announce it in the invitation.

Decide on Formal or Informal Wording
You'll also need to make sure that you decide on whether or not you want formal or informal wording in your invitations. If you are using modern wedding invitations, then you'll probably be able to get away with informal wording. However, if you instead are using traditional invitations, then you may want to use formal wording in the invitations instead.

Write the Entire Date Out
It is also important that you write the entire date out in your wedding invitations. No abbreviations should be used at all. If you're wedding is 07-21-08, then you would write out Monday, the twenty-first of July, two thousand and eight.

Make Sure You Have the Ceremony Time
Of course you should also make sure that you include the time of the ceremony time in the invitation as well. You want all of your guests to arrive at the wedding on time, so don't forget this important part of the invitation.
