09:25 - Sunday, August 19, 2007 - comments {0} - post commentA Boo-boo TaleIn french... we simply say Bobo, pronounced "b-oh b-oh". Last wednesday, Angelina got herself a HUGE "booboo". The kids were playing great... those moments when all you hear is hysterical laughter and you are thinkink "someone will get hurt, NOT normal they are having THIS much fun!" well the thought only last 2 seconds than you hear a "bang", followed by total silence, than a terrorised brother screaming "ANGELINAAAAA" . My first thought was that she knocked herself out, because her brothers were screaming and she was not. So i left the dishes i was cleaning and rushed to the living room where they were playing. She is trying to get up from the floor, between the couch and the coffee table.
I see blood pouring down her mouth. Yikes! At first I thought she bite her tongue, or something like that. I couldnt see anything but blood so i couldnt see where and how she got hurt! I took her to the bathroom, took a towel to her mouth. After i "sponged" some blood out, for a second i saw where the blood was coming from. Her upper lip was cut, right in the middle, so bad that her mouth was already deformed. I was shocked! but the bleeding wouldnt stop long enough for me to "see" the extend of her cut, and she was screaming. It was obvious I had to take her to the ER.
Of course, life's like that, Jay was not home. We are blessed enough to have him work from home most days, but that day, he was not. I ran to the next door neighbors, who thankfully, were there; both dad and mom. So mom, who i consider a friend, who is very busy and should of spent the day enjoying her family... nicely took us to the ER, let me use her cell phone because of course, mine went dead "that" minute i dialed it. I couldnt reach Jay... so i left a message. Seb and Zac had followed me next door, bare feeth, and stayed to the neigbhors, playing with their friend. Nick was still sleeping. I got a hold of my best friend. I had to tell her i couldnt take care of her daughters like i was suppose to that day! She works at that ER so she later was there :) I tried to reach Jay several times, leaving updated messages to keep him "informed" once he got the messages.
They saw her 30mins after we were there. The ER was packed. The bleeding had stopped... and people were as shocked as I was at her disfigured mouth, saying they should see her right away. She was quiet, laying on my chest... I would not of want to be a Doctor that day, 4 ambulances came, 2 guys came in so sick they couldnt walk, one fainted and the ER was just Packed! People were going to the front desk every minute asking "when is MY turn", complaining. They made me mad... just SIT DOWN!! and of course, its the people with colds and sore throat that were complaining the most. What are they doing to the ER in the first place!? some people just want drama i guess! I dont even call my Dr. for a stupid cold.. what are THEY doing to the ER?? sheesh!
Once we saw the nurse, they took care of "us" pretty quick. They didnt want to use a needle in her cut, so we had to put some "anticeptic" right on it using a cotton ball. She fell asleep watching "The little mermaid" movie that they put in her room :) After 40mins, the Doctor came to see her. He told me her lip would take about one year to see the extend of the scar; and we could decide if we need to see a plastic surgeon or not. He looked inside her mouth, something she didnt let me do, and than we saw her 2 front teeth pushed back. He said it looked like one coud fall and the other could be discolored. He got my calls right before the Doctor did her stitches. Angelina was so brave... she cried of course, but she closed her eyes like we asked her to and just listened to everything they asked her.. such a sweet girl...
Here is a picture of her about 15mins before she got hurt:
Here is her after we came home from the hospital
We bought her that dress after she was more terrorised of loosing her outfit, stained with blood, than her cut. She cried a little bit and said "oh mommy, i look like a monster" when she saw herself in the mirror. :( but i reassured her she didnt and would look as beautiful as she was soon. I wont show a picture of the front, its too sad, but here is her the next day, already a lot better with barely any swelling. But you all who knows what she looks like before her cut...will see what its done to her mouth...
She was smiling.... more adults should take life as children do! Here is her now, 5 days later. You can see where the stiches are and where the scar is going to be, but you can also see her "new" lip, and its not bad... it actually raised her upper lip just a tinny bit... which some women actually pay a lot of money for. I think other than the scar, nobody will ever know. So she is smiling, able to open her mouth again and eat "some". We cant see her 2 front teeth when she smile yet... none fell so far and it looks like she will keep both. I think one is getting discolored some; she will see a dentist on Wednesday.
Her brothers, the 3 of them. Are happy. They got scared. So... first days were hard... seeing her disfigured was scary... she couldnt sleep, couldnt eat... was hard and sad! She is doing, and looking, much better already! So thanks to you who reassured me!
I got to get the kiddos ready for school! Let me know how YOU are doing!
