Maggie's Musings

Thursday, April 26, 2007 - More Doctor Stuff & the 12 Week group

We have a few more openings left in the 12 Healthy Weeks group. If you are female and have at least 50 pounds to lose and are interested in joining then please email me at hillbillyhousewife@msn.com.

I saw my nurse practitioner today. She is so wonderful. I wish she was my doctor and more qualified to treat all of my problems. She did manage to get me in to see a new endocrinologist. We joke here at home that my endocrine is broken. I had an old endocrinologist but there were signs on all the walls saying "The doctor is busy, don't bother him too much." They didn't say that exactly, but that's what they meant. Essentially, keep your mouth shut and don't ask too many questions. Grrr. Didn't like that doctor and only saw him twice.

So I'll see the new endocrinologist next week, same day as my mammogram. Thank you soooo much to everyone for the reassurance about that specifically. I'm feeling much more relaxed about it now.

We had some trouble with the Asperger's Boy today and made a visit to his psychologist. It was a productive visit and I hope things will continue in a good vein.

This Saturday we're visitng our grandbaby and her momma and the baby daddy. The mom and baby may be moving to Oklahoma soon, maybe with the baby daddy and maybe without, we still don't know. Anyway, we are praying furiously that whatever God's will is, that it will be done. And that we will be loving and kind about whatever the outcome.

Things at home right now are not even and peaceful, but I expect they will get back to that soon. I am loathe to say more becasue I seem to have acquired some critics and I don't feel strong enough to give them more food for fodder. For the most part it's just every day stuff that gets worked out eventually. Hopefully my instinct to censor myself will pass soon enough and I can get some more good entries made.

Thanks to everyone for the warm and encouraging response to the 12 healthy weeks group. I hope we'll be able to do some good with it. If it goes well, then I will consider another group, at a later time, and allow those with less to lose to join in. For now though, I've got nearly 100 pounds that are weighing me down and I need the security of other ladies who are looking at similar numbers. I hope those of you who have less to lose will understad and be patient with me.

Thursday, April 26, 2007 - I hope I'm not one of them

I hope you don't consider me one of your crititcs for the post I made yesterday about not being in a place to lose weight. I didn't mean to sound critical of you and if I did, I am sorry. I love reading your blog and am so glad to see you back posting in it. I also use your site more than any other I expect. When I feel like I need a frugal boost, I get on your site and read, read, read, even if I have read it all before. You inspire me. When it comes to weightloss though, I am just not there right now, but wish I was. I have 3 phases I seem to go thru. I do really well on a diet(usually WW) and lose the weight for a while, then I go thru a struggle pahase where I am still trying, but fail more than succeed, then I go thru the rebelious phase where I pretty much give it up and say forget it. I am in the third phase right now and, even though I try to get remotivated, it is hard until I get to where I can do it. Am I making sense? Anyway, I wish you good luck on the 12 week plan.

Nah Honey, you're not criticizing me at all. I enjoy your comments. They're honest, well written and there's no meanness in them. I've been deleting the mean comments so they don't show up anymore.

I go through stages with weight loss too, I'm hoping the support of the group will help me keep the weight loss phase going for 12 weeks before I slip down into rebellion again. =) Thanks for your comments Diane. --Maggie

Thursday, April 26, 2007 - 100 pounds to lose

Posted by Anonymous
I have 150 pounds to lose!!! I would like to join, but now is not a good time. If you can keep us posted, even when your done, that may help some of us through this process. Thanks for all you do.

Regarding the Endo. I had battled thyroid cancer for about 5 years. I'm considered in remission now. I am now looking for my 4th endo. I guess part of their training in school is how to be rude. My endos. seem to not like to give me info either. Most of my information comes from yahoo groups and support sites.

Hang in there and I applaude you continuing your blog despite all your whoas lately. I think you are stronger than you give yourself credit for.

Thursday, April 26, 2007 - Don't let them get to you.

People who don't have weight issues, they don't understand. It is an addiction. We wear it on the outside. While other addictions are not as easily seen. Then you throw stress and health problems in the mix. It is not as easy as the critics think it is. You are great.. Progess not perfection. That is my motto.

Internet critics abound. Please don't let them get to you. They will criticize anything and everything. Remember with whom true judgement lies.

Maggie,
I thought one of the most frequent symptoms of PCOS was weight gain. How on earth are you going to lose weight with the odds stacked against you? I am still battling the same 10 pounds I posted about a year ago and there is nothing wrong with me, accept perhaps laziness... what a beating! LOL

Take care of yourself.
