Low energy

I am so tired today, I don’t know why. I have been up rather late the last nights playing Online poker, but that is something I do regularly without it ever having affected my energy this much before. Could it be that I am getting older? I hate signs of getting older, few things are as depressing. Regardless of what reason, I feel like I don’t really have the energy for anything. Apart from maybe playing some more poker…

Tonight I think I will do something else though… There is a film I’ve wanted to see for a really long time, for example. I don’t remember the name of it but it is a play made of Harold Pinter, and the main actors are Jude Law and Michael Caine. It is a really odd plot, I’ve heard, and it is the kind of movie where you have no idea how it all will end until it does.

Another really nice film I have seen before and cannot wait to see again is Hard Candy. That movie is similar to the other, because it has so many twists and turns that in the long run you have no idea who the hero or the villain is any longer. I like those kinds of movies, where you don’t feel like the director assumes you’re stupid. Like classical chick movies, or stupid action ones. Sure, I can like those too, but I would rather see something that keeps me on the edge of my chair, wondering what will happen next.

I just wished I hadn’t stayed up all night playing poker. Now I am almost so tired that I don’t even want to watch a movie, just go to bed the minute I get home. However, poker is very fun too… And if I know myself, and I do, I will be back in front of the computer screen betting and raising. I can’t help myself, it is just too much fun to not play. And as long as I make at least the same amount of money that I spend I can’t really see any other problems with it than the fact that I am a bit tired the morning after. Maybe I – despite of my sleepiness – will catch both the Michael Caine movie and play some poker as well…

Poker instead of dining

I am so tired of my boyfriend! He is a great guy, sure, but I have this stupid problem with him that I never thought should be an issue. Each time I want us to go out for a nice dinner, he is stationed at the computer, staring at some Poker room screen. I know that he loves to gamble, but I feel that he should try to prioritize me and the relationship that we are having, instead of desperately trying to win money.

It is not that he is not succeeding. Most of the time he wins more than he loses, but the time that is spent in front of that stupid computer is time that is taken from our quality time! In other words; I don’t care whether he wins enough money to take me to fancy restaurants as long as he doesn’t take me to restaurants at all. I am tired of eating alone, watching movies alone, waiting for him to get the poker playing over and done with.

I have tried to talk to his friend about this, but they are all the same. They never play against each other, but they can spend hours online chatting about different techniques and strategies. Once in a while I try to join them in one of the poker rooms, but I think poker is a boring game that is hard to understand. Also, I never, ever win.

I have decided to give my man an ultimatum. Either he takes me out to dinner at least once a week or I will not let him use the computer anymore. Because, you see, the laptop belongs to me. And even though he is winning, he doesn’t have the money to buy himself his own computer. This ultimatum might sound harsh, but you must understand that I never see my boyfriend anymore! We used to spend five days out of seven together, eating, drinking, watching movies, laughing, talking… Now I only see his back while I sit in front of the TV on my own. I am starting to feel that this relationship isn’t worth the time I am putting in it. So tonight I will let him know that it is either me or the poker. And I am going to make sure that he doesn’t read into that that he can go to the closest casino. No poker online or IRL. Or I am out of here…

Fashion in poker

I think that professional poker players really should take a look at what they are wearing before they head out the door. The fashion at the poker tables can be really poor, with no sense for the glamour to the game. Sure, poker is fun to watch, and play, anyway, but sometimes I wish that there would be a stricter dress code to the high rooms of poker playing.

Some of the best players in the world wear track suits or old t-shirts, when they could have been wearing blazers or beautiful dresses. They surely could afford to anyway, but for some reason they don’t seem to find it tempting. Fine, I could see why they would want to put all of their focus on the game and not on their appearance. But what is the point of being that famous and recognized if you are just going to look like a gas station clerk?

At least there are a few women who know how to dress up when the occasion calls for it, and one of those women are Lacey Jones. She always looks dressed up and nice at the tournaments, as does Annie Duke. The two women’s styles differ somewhat though – while Lacey Jones has a flirtatious, very female way of dressing, Annie Duke looks more professional and proper.

I think that the main point is to take notice to the fact that it is a fancy event and to acknowledge that. The kind of dress or suit that you wear is less important.

Another really handsome poker player is Gus “The great Dane” Hansen. That man can really dress and he is never caught looking sloppy! I understand why the Danish ladies miss him now that he lives in Monaco… I would too.

Maybe a solution to the dressing problem would be if sponsors took into accounting that their brand would look even better on a slick shirt than on a loose t-shirt. If the players themselves don’t take responsibility for their appearance then at least their financers should…

Not that it would ever be realized, but if I was famous enough in the world of poker I would take the opportunity to dazzle some. How often do you get to wear a dress anyway? I would really seize the chance when I got it, and show the other poker players how the glamorous dressing is done. And I don’t think that it would affect my game a bit. Hopefully it would affect the others dressing though…

I'm dating

Wouldn't think I would write a post like this for quite a while. Been thinking way to much about the harder issues in life lately. Last week something happened though. I met a guy working on a Poker Site (we met at the Cosmopol Casino)  and we actually went for a beer after the tourney we were playing. Both ended up pretty close to the bottom of the list so there was a lot of time to kill before the next one.

Seems to be going quite well and hopefully I can write more good news about it.

In addition I found out about rakeback and I've signed up on a rakeback deal. Not sure if it's any good at all but I thought it worth a try.

Meeting guys at the casino

I have just realized that poker playing might be a really good way to meet cute guys. Of course not when you play online poker, since you cannot see the face of the others at the table. But at casinos! I think that this weekend I will bring a girlfriend of mine and go to the local casino and see if there are any studs there. In that case my catch phrase will be "Hey, honey, how about some studpoker?" If they don't consider that funny, then I am not interested anyway. Unless he is hot without comparison, of course. Then I can forgive total lack of humour. Who couldn't?
