I grew up in a little town called Catano right in front of the Old San Juan Bay. I love the water as I pretty much grew up around it. My family was my sister and my parents. As part of the statistics of my generation I really didn’t had a good close relationship with my Dad but he was there once in a while. I never did the whole fishing trip or day at the park kind of thing with him but I learned how to do it on my own and since I didn’t have it when I was a little kid it is one of my purpose in live to make sure my children have it as they grow up. Now, one thing I did learned from my old man was “If you gonna do it, do it right the first time and let your job speak for itself”. Well, just like him I learned how to do a lot of mechanical stuff and soon my friends were all over his shop so I could do things for them and since this was the only way or thing I could really do, I never paid too much attention to the fact that I was doing a job not too many people were able to do at my age, so I never worried about the most important factor…MONEY! Unfortunately, I carried that into my current field and after years of bad experiences with people I decided to put a stop to Mr. Nice guy and become what every successful American becomes, a self-centered greedy man out to make a buck so I can support my family, whatever it takes. So, here I am…planning the work so I can work the plan the right way in order to make it. I moved to Florida in December of 1992, I lived in Miami for 3 weeks then I took the nice 7 hour Greyhound bus to Tampa, FL. While on the bus I had the opportunity to meet this young Mexican guy who was traveling from Homestead, FL to Ft. Mayers to fix roofs and he spoke to me about his family and the way they get here. It was pretty interesting so I was amazed to the fact that people are going thru so many problems in order to get to this country….I was like ‘Wow, this is the place to be’ I thought to myself but suddenly I look underneath the bridges and I see families, communities of African-American people, adults and kids living under the bridges with cardboard boxes as the walls and roofs. Yeh, shocking…never in my life I thought I was going to leave Puerto Rico a 35 by 100 mile island, move to the United States of America and see the poverty level I was able to see, I will never forget it. So, there I am still thinking about the homeless people and all off the sudden my emotions get confused and I get into alert mode as this guy walks in front of me for the 6th time in a row…so I look at this face and I see him looking down, I turn around and I see my wallet in the ground next to the pay-phone I was trying to use. I was amazed to the fact that this guy just was waiting for the perfect moment to take the wallet and take off…so I picked up my wallet and put it on my pack and we started boarding the bus. Later on in life I decided to enroll in College again and finish a Bachelor's Degree in Imformation Technology and currently I am going thru my Masters Degree in Information Security.
