Spring is Cria TimeMonday, June 11, 2007

Finished shearing all the alpacas just in time for the two new births on the farm.  Red Barn Cocoa gave us a beautiful dark fawn with red hilights girl weighing in at 14 pounds on May 29th.  As of yesterday, June 10th she is weighing 25 pounds.

On June 1st, Red Barn Cotton Kisses delivered a med fawn girl weighing in at 14 pounds also.  Both moms must have known what to do since IGG on both crias was 1800.  Thats great for first time moms.

Moms and one cria now belong to new alpaca breeder Sara Via.  Congrats Sara.

The Great Frederick FairThursday, September 28, 2006

The Alpaca Show at the Great Frederick Fair was a success. Not too many glitches, considering this was the first show that was not run by a paid superintendent,.  (Polly had done a fantastic job when she was superintendent with no paycheck at the end. She had the experience) All in all Bob did a good job and I think mostly everyone was happy with the results.  Several farms indicated they would be back next year since they had so much fun.

The sub-junior classes were adorable, the jr and sr classes were very competitive and the adults, well adults will be adults.

Hope all will put The Great Frederick Fair Alpaca show on their schedule for next year.  The more participants the more fun we have.

The Great Frederick FairThursday, August 31, 2006

Tomorrow is the last day to get your entries in for The Great Frederick Fair Alpaca Show.  If you're having trouble navigating their web site, please call us and we can walk you through it. Questions about the BVD testing, again please call.  Once your animal has been tested for BVD it does not need another test.  Please be sure to bring the negative test results with you on Sept 21st at checkin.

If you are unsure about entering the show this year, let me let you in on what's going to happen for future alpaca shows at the Frederick Fair. With the very poor turn out at last years show we have been given the opportunity to show that we do care and support the Alpaca Show.  Without the support this year, it may very well be the last alpaca show at The Great Frederick Fair.  Remember, this is not only a county fair but a regional fair. Thousands of people come through and its a great opportunity for you to advertise your farm and alpacas.

Our judge this year is Wade Gease.
