So it turns out that Mother Teresa had some very serious doubts about the existence of God. Who wouldn't, working among the poorest of the poor on a daily basis for decades? Her saintliness, it would appear, lies in the power of her faith to sustain her through all the crushing doubt. I think these letters of Mother Teresa force a re-definition of faith - or at least an updating of the catechism I was taught. Faith is not believing in God so much as being determined to believe in God despite all proof to the contrary. That kind of faith is the healing kind.

Nice poem about Mother Theresa!
In my opinion faith is still about believing in God but with the constraint mentioned ,the challenge is to continue to do so
But, since faith can be applied noit only to God,the quotation by mother Theresa is impeccable. |
