Imagine this - you are sitting at home at Christmas.  You have just finished opening all of your presents and are now sitting down at the table with your family to eat Christmas dinner.  What are the most precious items around you besides your family?  Your beautiful china you have used every year?  Your big screen television you watch every night?  Now imagine that all of those things were gone in an instant.  The only thing you have left is your family.  You thank God that you still have them, but how do you replace everything you lost?

This is something that no one ever wants to think about and shouldn't have to, but due to the laws of nature, it can happen to anyone at any time.  Are you prepared for that type of a disaster to your home and it's belongings?

You may be thinking that you have homeowners insurance, but will that cover everything in your home?  What about the big expensive items?  How much would it cost to replace them.  When you look deeper into what homeowners insurance covers, you will quickly realize that there are some big ticket items that need a floater or separate policy on them to cover them.

It doesn't matter where you live, but if you are reading this, you probably live in South Florida and are at risk for possible hurricanes and flooding.  This is something that not all standard insurance companies cover.  Worse yet, you don't have coverage on your home contents.  This can be devastating.  You best be looking at all of the South Florida homeowner's insurance companies that you can and do some comparisons so you choose the best policy.  One of my recommendations is to look at Progressive homeowners insurance.  They have great rates on car insurance and may have great rates on homeowners insurance where you live.

There are so many different types of homeowners insurance policies to choose from.  Once you find an insurance company to go with and a good policy, it is time to do a good inventory of all of your possessions.  The big items need to be recorded or have a picture taken of it.  If it still has tags on it, take a good close picture of the tag.  This is very important, because if you end up losing everything, the last thing you want to do is spend all of your time trying to remember what all you had and how much it is worth.

Taking the first step at getting a good insurance quote is essential to finding the best policy.  If you are ready to find the best company...
